A Month of Me!

It's June friends, and I'm going out of my element here and declaring the whole month all about me! You see, I turn 50 on the 22nd and it's haunting me. I hated turning 40, I had myself convinced my life was half over, but here at 50, I can't say that, no guarantee's that I live to be a 100 or if I'd even want too? People who have already made it to 50 tell me, it's just a number, embrace the grace, and kick up your heels. I'd love to think like that and maybe I can after this month of me? I do like the idea of being able to speak your mind, I guess at 50 you have all the respect your gonna get? I'd love to be a little more sassy, they say that too comes with age?

I'm always the one who plans the family birthday dinners, buys the gifts, bakes the cake and cleans up the mess! Now, here is the part where I get sassy, I'm not the type who likes the fuss made upon me, I'd rather give than receive but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of kicking back and letting that big ole number work for me! So, this month here on my blog you will learn all there is to know about me, like you can't wait for that! lol I'll be sharing my dreams, loves, collections and wishes. Favorite photos of favorite things, my bucket list and yes a giveaway too! I'll be putting together a giveaway of some of my favorite things, so watch for that post. I will try to post everyday in June, even if it's just a photo of something I love.

This month of me will be my gift to you, so you can't say I didn't give you anything! The freedom that blogging brings me is a creative way to unleash my fear of turning 50 and I couldn't think of anyone else to share it with! So, please join me in this journey to make 50 nifty by sharing your comments on how you handled turning half a century old! Birthday wishes will be accepted all month long, I'm shooting for 50 of those too! lol

  2. It's not so bad, I'm eight years older than you!!! When I turned 50 I had my first granddaughter (Sydney) that year, I also lost my mom so I remember that year as bittersweet:)

I'll enjoy reading all about you in the coming month:0

  7. Sue, Happy Birthday month and I am looking forward to reading your blog...I turned 51 this year and when I turned 50 it wasn't that bad...As I wrote in my post what I didn't like was all the AARP stuff that keeps coming...Then I got a letter about grave plots...Don't listen to society and telling you 50 is old...It's all a mind trick...I have to tell you I have had a blast since turning 50...I am through with parenting only mentoring now...I am doing things for ME....I am doing things for others...Since turning 50 it has been all about my husband and I...We are doing things we have wanted to do for years...He is not retired..I say turning 50 has been fantastic..Embrace it..enjoy it...Lisa

  8. Forty was brutal for me......my daughter just made me a gramma first time just before it. My Dr. said I had arthritis and I needed bifocals.

Fifty however is a blast. Something happens when you hit fifty. It sometimes takes till you hit 51 to really get it but.......well theres a saying that you spend half your life living it as your family and society say you must...and the other half living it the way you really want.

Something about 50 perhaps because we suddenly see the end, we no longer care what anyone thinks, we wear what we want and do the things we thought we couldnt do before. Fifty is fabulous!

I for one...divorced before 50 but....since then bought a house, found a wonderful soulmate and now we are starting again in another state. Once up there Ill buy us another house and he will work and I am going to start a business. Yea its all terrifying.....but its great isnt it? hehehe You will love it if you just let go and enjoy what your thinking and feeling. Hugs and good luck and Happy Birthday!

  16. I will be checking in to read all about you, you, you! There is something about turning 50 that makes one reflect on ones life. My 50th birthday was spent with about 12 of my closest girlfriends at a very upscale restaurant. We were supposed to have dinner, but we started with drinks in the lounge, made a big circle of comfy chairs, had them bring out a few appetizers to share, and just stayed there all night. A few Cosmopolitans later and I forgot that I had turned 50. Great group of gals :)

  17. My 50th was full of black baloons, the over the hill cards and other such frivolity. :) I'm 57 now and looking forward to senior citizen discounts in a few more years. :) I'm still feisty as I ever was, and very opinionated at times. I don't look at it as an age, just power packed with wisdom of what I've come to know in all those years.

You have shared so much of your decorating know how and I'm looking forward to many more years of you. xxoo
