Let's Break Fast!!

Did you catch it, breakfast? lol  I finally bought a waffle maker yesterday, I've been wanting one for some time and now I have a cute round one, I'm also wondering why I didn't make the purchase years ago!!! My first attempt at homemade waffles came out perfect and so much better than the frozen boxed ones, not that we eat waffles alot but we may have to now! I'm even more sold on them now that I've pinned alot of waffle recipes on Pinterest: pumpkin waffles for this fall, gingerbread waffles for Christmas morning, cinnamon roll waffles for a special Sunday morning treat and I even found a brownie waffle recipe for dessert!!! But, what really spiked my interest was finding the link to a little known fact that just seems so dangerous, did you know you can take any cake mix and turn it into waffles?? Neither did I, but I do now! All you do is mix up the cake batter like you would for a cake and pour right into your prepared waffle maker! Can you believe this?? Oh, the possibilities!! How about red velvet waffles for Valentines day, or rainbow waffles for a child's birthday breakfast? I could go on but you get the picture! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

  1. Congratulations on your new waffle maker, Sue! I've seen so many interesting recipes on Pinterest for waffles, I've been thinking about buying another one myself. (I gave mine away:) The cake mix idea is brilliant! As you say, the possibilities are endless! Wish I would have thought of it first, lol...

Another reason I dropped by was to let you know that National Waffle Day is August, 24th, (I have a waffle day Pinterest board) So, you may want to celebrate your new waffle maker on August 24, the day the waffle maker was first patented way back in 1869!

Thanks for sharing, Sue. Enjoy your new waffle maker!

  3. I use my waffle maker for almost every thing but waffles! We love the chocolate cake ones with a scoop of ice cream on top. You can also use it to cook Pilsbury cinnamon rolls from the can. I am actually making cookies in mine this afternoon.
