Do you know who's birthday falls on a Tasty Tuesday? The king of rock and roll, Elvis! I was a fan, not the franic kind but one who loved his music, voice and good looks! So, in honor of his birthday, I thought it would be fun to post his favorite sandwich, I'm not a fan of bananas but for the king.....
Here is the bona fide PB&B recipe from "Graceland's Table":
Yield: 3 sandwiches
2 large ripe bananas
1 cup peanut butter
6 slices white bread
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup peanut butter
6 slices white bread
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
—Peel and mash the bananas in a medium bowl. Combine the peanut butter with the bananas and mix well.
—Toast the bread lightly and spread the mixture on three of the slices; top with the remaining three slices.
—Melt the butter in a large skillet and slowly brown the sandwiches on both sides until golden brown.

Hi Sue. I sure miss Elvis! I grew up eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches-love them!-but we never toasted them. I've seen some people sprinkle the buttered bread with sugar, too. Too sweet for me!
I've had grilled P&J before and they're quite delicious. Never tried mashing the naners with the peanut butter though. Interesting! Now I'm "all shook up!" lololol
