Thanksgiving Menu

I'm finalizing our menu for Thanksgiving, making lists and stocking up on those items that go fast, like stuffing, why is it so high this year? I make my own by doctoring up a bag of store bought, I add onions, celery, spices, chicken broth, cream of mushroom soup and dried cranberries, sure beats Stove Top! One year I made it from all kinds of dried bread pieces that I had saved all year in the freezer, it was the best! We roast a turkey, a big one for our big family and along with it is garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, Christmas yams, a veggie dish but no green bean casserole in my house! I never heard of it till I married into this family and it was served at my first holiday with them, needless to say, it wasn't a favorite. Just something about it, I love green beans, just not that way! There are always homemade rolls, bread or biscuits, cranberry sauce, and more desserts than anything! And of course all kinds of munchies to hold them over till the bird is done! The holidays were not meant for dieting but they were meant for homemade everything!
Not sure what kind of desserts will be made but you can bet something with pumpkin for sure!

Today, I'm thankful for being able to provide such a feast for my family. Food really does bring people together and I'm happy to serve not only my time, but plates of good, home cooked food to celebrate such a special day!

  3. Not a fan of the green bean casserole myself. Just something so weird about it. I like my green beans plain or with pearl onions. I can't wait to get that bird in the crockpot though as my mouth is watering. xxoo

  10. That a nice adaptation of Stove Top stuffing. For 20 years we`ve used a stuffing recipe from a 1987 Rival Crockpot booklet.

    Your menu sounds great!!
