Gratitude Journals

Last year I started a gratitude journal for Thanksgiving, where it gets passed to each person attending, for them to write down what they are thankful for this year. I wanted to start this tradition so the kids then the grand kids would have a keepsake to look back on and hopefully keep up within their own families. It's just another way to express the day in writing. I wasn't sure if the idea would go over or not, but to my surprise everyone took a page and left heart felt thanks that I'm sure they will enjoy reading again this year before they claim a new page for a new year. I've been keeping a gratitude journal ever since I discovered Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach, I love her books!

Today's gratitude moment is for work, everyday I hear about layoffs, three just this morning, and no one is spared. I have a cleaning service so my jobs are take them when you get them, I've been blessed to have been able to keep the business going for 13 yrs. now, even if it's just me. But this business is so iffy at times but I'm thankful for every house to clean. I'm also thankful that my hubby is still working, alot have been laid off already there so his number is getting closer, but I'm thankful and I pray that we can hang on....like so many others!

  1. Hi Sue,
I love reading your post and having something thankful for everyday.
The journal is such a good idea. I wish we had done this growing up with Mom and Dad's big gatherings.

  3. Yes, Sue, we need to be thankful for an income. It has been stressful this year here too. The "early-out opts" are really being pushed and the pressure gets intense sometimes. Of course the rumors are always flying...
Keep trusting the Lord and be thankful everyday for the blessings that we have.

  4. Love the journal idea, Sue! And the one pictured is so cute! Love that little pumpkin too!
I agree about the job market right now. My son-in-law got layed off yesterday. My daughter lost her job a little over a month ago. So things are not looking good right now. All we can do is pray about it.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I love the journal idea! What a great way to remember those Thanksgivings. It would be great to look back on over the years.

The job market is iffy. I was let go last December from a job I worked at for many years. However, hard work paid off because I got a job that I really enjoy and less stressful. Sometimes the Lord makes you put up with a rainstorm before you see the rainbow.
