Holiday Open House

Tis the season, isn't it! I wasn't apart of the holiday home tour that was going on in blogland, I found it too late but I thought since I've been in the kitchen more often lately making fudge and cookies that I'd share my holiday kitchen with you. It's small but cozy, I love it when it's all decked out for Chirstmas, really gets you in the spirit to cook and bake up a storm!

I also thought I'd share a family favorite recipe with you, this recipe was also publised in the GooseBerry Patch cookbook " In the Country". If you have a eggnog fan this fudge is for them!
Eggnog Fudge
3 c. sugar
1 c. eggnog
1 1/2 c. mini marshmallows
1/2 t. cinnamon and nutmeg
2 Tbsp. butter
6 oz. pkg. white chocolate chips
1 c. slivered almonds
Combine sugar and eggnog in a large saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil over med. heat, stirring. Boil for 2 mins.Fold in marshmallows, cinnamon and nutmeg. Bring back to a rolling boil, cook for 6 min., stirring. Remove from heat, stir in butter, choc. chips and nuts. Stir till well mixed. pour into a greassed 9x9 pan. Cool before cutting, enjoy! Makes about 5 dz.

Well, here we are, the last week before Christmas and the rush is on. The snow predicted over the weekend was less than forecasted and completly driveable so we made it to my grand daughters dance recital and the church play, both were so cute! Sunday we spent the day baking gingerbread cookies, and what fun we had! If your reading this, I'm tagging you to show off your holiday house or kitchen, share your spirit with us! Till next time, I hope all is well and nothing but Merry Christmas wishes and candy cane kisses!

  1. Hi Sue,
I've lurked here on your blog for quite a while but I had to tell you how much I love your homey, country kitchen, especially looking all Christmasy! I love the open shelves and just the coziness of it all!
Everytime I come here to visit, that little sifter pin cushion in your side bar catches my eye. It makes me sigh!! :) So cute!
I also love eggnog so I'm gonna have to try your fudge. Sounds good!
Thanks for making my day by sharing your pics. I love all things country!

    Hi Miss Sue,
I've enjoyed your blog for a couple of months now. I really enjoy it a lot. I have to confess. I sent a e-mail to my husband saying I love your kitchen. We hope to build in a couple of years. I like the open cupboards.

Thank you so much for sharing with us. It's great fun. I just started blogging last week. I'd love for you to come and visit.

    Merry Christmas!

  5. Oh, Sue, you do have a flair for making things beautiful.
Not much to show at my house. the girls brought a tree and there it sits. Kylee went to her other Grandmothers until Friday, so we'll wait until she gets back and maybe do some decorating. Can you tell I'm not in the mood yet---only so-so. MB

  8. Sue, I just went through your kitchen, again. Awww I love it there. I too love "stuff" in my kitchen. I have an old cross stitched saying "My Kitchen Is My Pride" and I love it. (found at a little junk store and it was blue and red! made just for my kitchen. ha) Of course, I had to bring it home.
    Thanks for sharing.
