Tasty Tuesday

It's still HOT here, about 10 degrees above normal so when this recipe came my way I just knew I had to share it with you! I love a good odd ball recipe and I know many of you have the main ingredient handy this time of the year, so believe it or not, this week's recipe is Ice Cream Bread! I'm not sure it's worthy of having the oven on right now, but it does look interesting and I will try it one day, a cooler day!

ICE CREAM BREAD
Makes 1 8 x 4 loaf

2 Cups Ice Cream, any flavor, softened
1 1/2 cups Self-Rising Flour

Preheat your oven to 350. Spray and flour an 8 x 4 loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl mix the ice cream and flour together until just combined.
Scoop into the loaf and and smooth out.
Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick stuck in the loaf comes out with a few crumbs stuck to it.
Remove from the pan and allow to cool (if you can wait that long)!

*****For best results, use FULL FAT ice cream

So, what do you think? Will you try it, and if so, what flavor ice cream do you think you will use? I love the fact that any flavor will work, add some nuts or fruit maybe? When our temps get back to normal, I'm game! Stay cool!

  2. Very interesting. I may try it soon. I usually bake bread everyday. I am fresh out of ice cream, but I may make some nice vanilla ice cream to make with the bread.

  8. Hmmm... -- just not *sure*
I think it's funny that it says to use the full fat icecream. Think I'd like to try some french vanilla. I know; boring right???

  9. I may have to try this, but for right now, baking the ice cream does not sound appealing we have been 100+ for a number of days... I think eating it cold right now is the way I am leaning. But please post how it tastes after you try it!

I've never heard of it, but WoW... how cool! =)

You asked about the directions of the abandoned house on today's post... If I'm not mistaken, we was on CR 527... go to the old 60 west that runs in front of the old station by the charcoal kilns and it's 2 or 3 gravel roads past the kilns on the right. It's a good road to see lots of country stuff to blog about... also, I'm pretty sure it's the same gravel road that runs by Big Brushy Creek... lots of old abandoned places down thru there! I gotta warn ya, tho, the road gets a bit rough in some places, but I was able to make it in my Impala, just go slow & don't high center!!! Hope ya have lots of fun!!! =)

Have you been able to make it to Klepzig Mill, yet? I've been itchin' to get back up there, but gas is so high & I've been busy the past few weekends, so it'll have to wait! =)

PS I meant to add when you head east from West Plains, you'll see Simmon's Station on the left just west of Ellsinore & you'll want to make the 1st left past Simmon's, which is F Hwy & Old 60 W & runs in front of the old Charcoal Kilns... if you have any questions about my directions, please don't hesitate to holler back at me! =)
