Barn Charm
This little old barn, right down town in West Plains, Mo., has been photographed by many, newbies and even a national magazine, and yearly by me. I caught the owner outside last spring and got to talking to her, a seasoned gardener in her 80's who was born and raised on this little farm. She never married, still tends to this 3 acre plot and has seen this down town area grow up, her house is almost the last one still standing among the subdivisions and new builds. Spring came early this year, but I was lucky to get a few of the red buds in this shot. Barn charm, right down town!

How sweet! i love the little sprig of color from the redbuds (One of my favorite trees in the spring). Thank you for adding the story behind the barn, I love learning/listening about the past.
ReplyDeleteGod bless that women's heart!
Love carissa
How neat to have been able to visit with the owner. That's something that I would love to be able to do.
ReplyDeleteWonderful barn charm post.
Simple and charming..
ReplyDeleteNice little barn and I love the redbuds!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in the back country of Virginia, I loved riding the twisty, winding roads and seeing all the old houses and barns. I lived on an old farm, and we still had an original slave cabin there. It was covered with wild roses and just beautiful in its oldness. Since it was before digital cameras, etc., I don't have even one picture!!! Your picture today brought back memories of these places!!!! Thanks you
ReplyDeleteI love it when there are still old relics standing among the new structures; especially when they're still being used!
ReplyDeleteFANTABULOUS! West Plains, Missourah is just a hop skip & jump from me in Poplar Bluff, Mo... I've probably passed that old barn/out building on my way to Cloud 9 Ranch in Caulfield, Mo!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post & thanks so much for joining Barn Charm!!! =)

I love pictures of old barns too. I live in Oregon and only have to travel a mile before I run into the first barn to take a picture of. My hubby and I sometimes just drive around and take pictures of the barns but we've never gotten to talk to one of the owners and heard about their lives. How interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love it! How neat that you got to talk to her--I'm thinking she has lots of stories to tell about West Plains!
ReplyDeleteThere is a red barn right next door to our Wal Mart--so we have a busy parking lot that borders a cow pasture!
Thank you for sharing the story of the little old woman as well as the barn pic. I love the photo, but I as I was reading this, I couldn't help but think about this little woman and the stories she could share.
ReplyDeleteHope you having a great week Sue.
Hugs,
Cindy
I love old barns. We have a picture of my husband's grandfather's barn hung over our fireplace. We gave my cousin a picture of it and he did a painting for us. It is very meaningful to us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this picture and story!
What a beautiful barn and getting to meet the owner - imagine the stories she could tell, :) hope your aches are not too troublesome!
