  1. I like Hershey`s Cocoa in the original brown container. A little more effort to make it but worth it. I guess I`m just an old fashioned girl.

  2. Mother Earth News magazine used to sell a wonderful natural hot cocoa mix. It was a little expensive, but very very good. I don't think they offer it anymore. I usually buy a natural mix at Trader Joes or make my own from unsweetened cocoa.

  3. I use Hershey's Cocoa and use the original recipe from the old can that I've had for years. I don't think they've ever changed it, but I'll never get rid of that can. I also add just a splash of vanilla. It just makes it more comforting and gives it a wonderful flavor. I think you would like it. xxoo

  4. Homemade cocoa is always a treat at Christmastime. My favorite thing to do is buy gourmet vanilla real whipped cream in a can and fill the top of my mug with it!! When it runs out I usually spray a little more! Yummy.

  7. Hi Friend Sue!
    I'm entering here, too!
Thanks so much for choosing me for tea. I am so excited to know there's going to be a package for me in the mail! Oh, Mr. Postman, look and see if there's a package in your bag for me! Ah, Carpenter's relapse. I love their Christmas music.

I'd love to meet for tea or lunch sometime. I think it would be fun.

God bless you during this Advent season!
Nope, not Catholic, just looking forward to the coming of our Lord.

  8. I prefer the homemade hot chocolate made from Hershey's cocoa. Heat it good and hot then use a mixer to beat up some foam to it. Pour it in a cup and add a few miniature marshmallows. Yummy, and wonderful while wrapped in your cozy blanket with a good book at night.

  9. I LOVE hot cocoa!!! I am not sure of the exact recipe but any homemade one with powdered milk is great. It seems to make it so creamy...

  10. I usually add some more cocoa powder to Ghiradelli. But sometimes I splurge and make my own - it's really rich. Half milk, half cream, heat, melt chocolate chips or chocolate bar in the hot milk mixture. Add a tiny bit of salt, vanilla and if you like it, a bit of cinnamon. Yum. (whipped cream and or marshmallows are good too. . . )

  12. I love Swiss Miss Chocolate Sensation. It is a dark, delicious cocoa. As with all packaged mixes, one packet isn't enough to make a good mug and 2 is too many so I usually open them all andjust spoon it into the cup to my taste.
I also like to put a dolloop of marshmallow cream on top! Or They now make a chocolate spray whip topping. That is yummy, too.

  13. Please enter me in your giveaway!
I love chocolate of any kind. But a good cup of homemade hot cocoa using real cocoa is the best. I like to add a bit of amaretto syrup and a spoonful of marshmallow creme.
I just looked out my window & it's snowing like crazy. Hummm, good time for a cup of that cocoa. Later!

  14. Sue,

I have been reading your blog for a few months and have enjoyed it. I think this might be the first time that I have commented though.

Gee, you asked about hot cocoa and I guess I am boring with my plain old hot chocolate but adding a Andes mint in sounds like that would be yummy to me. I would have to say if I didn't drink it plain, I would want mint hot cocoa.

Nothing beats a good cup of homemade cocoa. I like using Ghirardelli's or Hersheys brand cocoa to make mine. I also like to top it with whipped cream and use a "soft" peppermint stick for stirring.
