Monday Musings

The last Monday in August and I'm wondering what September will bring, the year this far has been so odd, really mixed up! Many fine bloggers are posting about simple pleasures today, a lovely idea, but I think I'll change it up a bit and share some Country Pleasures with you, get it! lol Simple things are small treasures just waiting to be noticed, like the weather being a season ahead, or the frequent rains that keeps the blooms coming. Country pleasures are no different, maybe more so since living in the country can be more eventful. Like a daily walk to the mailbox that helps you lose weight, or spying the apple trees that will be cooked into pies, and taking note on what grows wild around you. There are so many country pleasures, all different for each of us, but simple pleasures all the same. My heart is heavy with gratitude for my simple, blessed life! It's always a good time to stop and be thankful for the life you have, if you don't like it, change it. If you love it, show it!
I had hoped to be bragging about the library by now, but we still have to frame the doorway in and trim it out, but I'm anxious to call it done. Hubby got a well deserved weekend off from house projects to do some manly things, like scope out some hunting land, do some fishing and float the river. Little does he know that he's all mine this extra long Labor day weekend! We still have alot to do before deer season! lol I hope you take a minute or two today to reflect on the simple things in your life that mean so much, and feel free to share them here with us, they are worth bragging about, aren't they!

  1. Thanks Sue. The simple things in my life that I am grateful for are all the blog friends, like you, that I have made since starting my own blog. And I thank our Savior for giving me another day to be able to work and enjoy the wonders He shows me. xxoo

  3. Great post, Sue! Yes, I have so many simple country blessings in my life. The newest being our new porch~I'm going to love sitting on it. I love hanging my clean clothes out on my clothesline, throwing out bread crumbs to our little flock of chickens, filling the bird feeders and watching them devour the seeds, picking the last fruits of our summer garden. And now I'm looking forward to our pumpkin harvest~our first in several years. I could list a lot more, but guess I'd better quit!

  4. Wow! Thoughtful post. Well, lets see. The simple things in my life that bring me joy:

1.the little hug in the morning when my back is turned, while I make fresh coffee
2.the smell of fresh rain two nights ago
3.yesterdays eagle soaring high over the patio as I sipped tea
4.new babies in the bird nests
5.the cat in my lap right now as I try to type
6.the peace that God gives me

There is more but the cat is shedding on my keyboard making me sneeze. Have a wonderful day!

  5. What a wonderful reminder for us to be so thankful for the simple things, the simple pleasures in our lives! I recently got two new baby goats...and this morning when I was outside feeding them and tending to the others, I did have moments of absolute pleasure...a beautiful sky, the morning birds chirping, my goats looking at me as if I were a goddess, no matter how I looked (I was a disaster), and my dogs patiently waiting for me to show them some attention....what a blessed life I have! Each and every day has been a gift...

    Thank you for the reminder!
