Happy St. Patrick's Day
Are you wearing green today? I can remember as a child in school, the big thing was to wear green on St. Patricks Day or run the risk of getting pinched, and the boys really liked to pinch. Do kids even do this anymore? When my kids were alot younger, I'd make something green for supper, mashed potatoes usually, they were the easiest to dye, just something fun to mark the day, we've got some Irish in us somewhere? I usually cook up a corned beef supper with Irish soda bread but not today, corned beef is high this year, so I'll wait, they will mark them down tomorrow then we will have a corned beef meal with plenty of leftovers for sandwiches. What do you do for this green day? As I get older, it just reminds me that March is half over but it's still fun to mark certain days, I fear one day holidays like this will no longer be on the calendars? You never know? Whatever you do, I hope you find many blessings and share the green, somehow!

We did the wear green or get pinched thing when I was growing up too.
ReplyDeleteWe normally don't do anything very spectacular, but we should. Why not celebrate every day!
Fiddle! I also meant to say...Tag...You're it! Assuming you want to play of course.
ReplyDeleteWe all wear a bit of green and a leprechaun has always visited my kids. Dan is 26 now but he still gets
ReplyDeletechocolate left for him and Grace was so excited to find a card with gold chocolate coins and a real shamrock inside!! She had to call about 17 people to tell them!
We had a party for family and friends on Sat. evening. Just fun...
And now it is down with the green and up with the bunnies!!
Hugs,
Sue
Happy St. Paddy's to you! The only thing I ever do on this day is make a green pistachio cake and this year was too sick of maikng cakes after the 11 layer wedding cake 2 weeks ago so I made none! Although a green apple martini would sure help my aching leg and back!!! LOL Lori
ReplyDeleteHappy ST Patty's day! Check out my blog for my St Patty Day post. I'm wearing my shamrock socks so that's the only green I have on. Chloe has on her Kiss Me I'm American Shirt...it's cute! Guess I can really buy her the Kiss me I'm Irish shirt....I think there's some Irish in me somewhere too but with psycho number 2 (u know who is number 1) you can't ever believe what she says! lol oh well!
ReplyDeleteI remember being pinched quite a few times in school!
ReplyDeleteBeing a mixed family of Latin and Asian cultures makes for some interesting dinners but yes, we do celebrate by having corned beef and cabbage! My kids love the fact that we celebrate every cultures special foods and celebration days.
And a Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I remember the "no green=a pinch" thing! LOL
I'm back in Blogland. :-)

I'd never heard of the "pinching" thing.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY!!!
Happy St. Patricks Day!
ReplyDeleteOh we still celebrate too! Before moving to the country, we lived in suburban Chicago. And St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal there. The entire Chicago River is dyed green and the parade can last for hours!
On Monday, my sister in law made us a wonderful meal of cornbeef, cabbage & potatoes! What better to celebrate that with food!
