Fall Giveaway

It's finally here and I'm so excited! It's the first day of fall and I'm in the mood to decorate and celebrate! Hubby and I went on a little day trip, looking for any signs of color, we found some and it was just the perfect way to spend the day, this first day of fall! And to mark this special day in true bloggy fashion, I'm having a fall giveaway, so leave me a comment on anything "fall" and I'll add your name to the fall basket, winner to drawn on Friday morning, bright and early, so get your comments in by the dawn of the 28th and good luck to all! Now, go out and look for fall!

  1. Me first:

    October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
    The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
    And leaves of every name.
    The Sunshine spread a carpet,
    And everything was grand,
    Miss Weather led the dancing,
    Professor Wind the band.

I'm Lisa the Lurker who just found your herbal farmstead blog and linked here! I love your photography. Autumn hasn't started here in TN yet...I am still harvesting Basil and watermelons! I have lots to do to get ready for winter, but since DH decided to let the zero turn lawn mower "fall" on top of him, things are going to take longer.

    T*mmy's poem is great!

  3. Leaf Blankets

Leaves are falling, soft as snowflakes,
    Red and yellow, gold and brown;
The breeze laughs gaily in the treetops,
    Shaking all the color down.

    Leaves are covering the gardens
    As my blanket covers me.
When cold winter comes, the flowers
Will be warm as warm can be.

  9. Fall is my favorite time of the year...It's a time for baking, decorating the front porch with pumpkins, hay and scarecrows. A time to have the windows open and let the cool fall breeze into your home. A time to sip tea or coffee in the morning while cuddled on the couch with a warm blanket and a good book. A time for hotdog & marshmellow roasts and hay rides. A time for fall festivals. Your house filled with wonderful fall fragrances of candles burning...my favorite is hazel nut cream! I just LOVE fall!

  10. Hi Sue,
I guess my fall comment is that I swear that the maple leaves are much bigger this year, so I plan on getting out my wax paper and pressing some.
Thnk you for having a drawing, just love them.

  11. Oh how I love Fall..I just posted about our venture into Fall weekend! Found an apple festival and a mom one as well! I live for this season...crisp and cool air, clear blue skies. The oranges and golds, deep reds and browns. Pumpkins and gourds, the smell of firewood, the crunch of dried leaves under your feet. The happy sounds of children jumping into the piles of leaves their parents just painstakingly raked!

I love everything about this season...

I am always so hapy to know that others see its many beauties too!

    Hugs,
    Sue

Fall! what wonderful thoughts that word evokes. there's apple cider in the crock pot, pies and pumpkins and friends and the woodsy smell of smoke from the woodstove. Beautiful leaves and a tang in the air. and lots of stews and soups to make the house smell good. mmmmmm!

I especially LOVE fall- but in the south it is slow coming - still pretty hot & muggy here.

  15. Hello Dear Sue!
I loved catching up on your blog and all that's going on with you!
First of all I'd like to wish you a belated but Happy Anniversary! I really enjoyed your anniversary post and hope by now you are feeling much better!
Although summer flew by much too fast for me, I do love everything about Fall! This year I am blessed by being able to enjoy two Falls. The first was during my trip to the Adirondacks where the Fall colors were well on their way to peak by the second week of September. And now I'm enjoying Fall #2 as the leaves are turning bright reds, orange and yellow, in my part of N.Y and the fields are bright yellow with Goldenrod, peppered with purple Astors! It's breathtaking-I'll be posting pictures soon!
    I love your header too!
Take care and blessings to you! Claudia O.

  18. To me the Fall is a breath of fresh air. I love the crisp breeze of orange, red and golden leaves. Your doors and windows are open wide to let the clean air inside. Harvesting fruit and vegatables for the winter. Digging deep in your closets and chests for the cozy quilts that keep us warm. To me the fall is the start to a new beginning.

Fall is the season for romance around our house. It's the time of year when hubby and I first started dating and got engaged 15 years ago. It's always held a special place in our hearts.

  21. To me, Autumn is that time of year when everyone seems to slow down alittle before the big holiday rush. People tend to take in the pumpkin farms and apple festivals; taking long drives in the country just to take a beautiful picture of the changinf leaves. I love the smell of my pecan pies baking and my hot apple/;cherry tarts cooling off on the counter. I think my most favorute part of Autumn is the cool brisk weather and the children jumping in piles of leaves!!There's nothing better than a hot cup of coffee and a freshly raked pile of leaves to play in. Ok, I have rambled enough. I LOVE you blog Sue! Such beautiful pictures!

Fall to me is all about the smell of fresh baked bread, a pot of steaming hot soup or stew, and a long stroll in the woods by the creek, and enjoying the sound of the symphony of Nature. I just wished it lasted longer than two days in Louisiana!
