When I took a picture of my kitchen it looked dated (80's) with the wood but I would leave it anyway. Change the walls maybe and the handles.
Love that you can do this. I also chose to but new hardware for them!
I also used brickboard for the back splash. But as you know anything will make it fresh and wonderful. It is hard work but well worth it.
Keep us updated for what your doing!
Blessings, Roxyliving from glory to gloryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123718369605106023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34082984.post-7241346074125636392013-01-18T10:08:14.760-06:002013-01-18T10:08:14.760-06:00My Mom had cabinets like yours and she decided she...My Mom had cabinets like yours and she decided she wanted country blue...this was back in the early part of 2000. We took off the doors, cleaned and sanded everything and then painted them. They turned out well. Changing the hardware or painting the hardware is a good idea. It can give the cupboards an updated look and feel without a lot of work or money spent. I've done that before and have been very pleased with the results.

Your sense of design and style is great. Go with your heart on this. Here is what I would do... I love red too, especially in the kitchen. I would leave the gingham backsplash, but I would paint the red wall and above the cabinets(and take down the border) white or a vintage white. It would show off your furniture pieces(and wall collections) and add a farmhouse feel. I love your floors btw. Then for the cupboards, I might just update with some new hardware or even spraypaint the hardware that is on them(maybe pewter or stainless steel like). I might even think about taking a couple doors off of the upper cupboards, put some gingham wall paper on the back of the inside(or paint white) and use them as display cupboards or to just have your dishes exposed. Just some ideas.
I'm sure what ever you decide it will look fabulous. Redecorating is always fun!

TiffTiffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09144393691575483288noreply@blogger.com
